Connected, But Alone?

I would agree with Sherry Turkle’s argument in Connected, But Alone . People are more disconnected because of the overuse of technology for quick, convenient and controlled communication. Personally, most of my 200 friends on Facebook are practically strangers. We share stories, links to recipes, cute animal videos, etc. Besides their individual political affiliations and food preferences, I don’t feel like I know them or have a deep connection with most of them. Furthermore, technology isn’t able to offer you that same personal connection that you get with a face-to-face conversation. Deep meaningful and fluid conversation is a rare occurrence.
